Stainless steel overview
What is stainless steel and why is the alloy known for its durability? Stainless steel is actually the generic name for a number of different steels that are all corrosion resistant and share a minimum percentage of 10.5% chromium. Chromium is an important material for the durability of stainless steel due to it unique ability to form a film of chromium oxide on the surface of the steel at a molecular level. This film does not react to other materials, clings to the surface of steel and does not tranfer elsewhere, and if damaged, more chromium oxide is generated. This is durability at its most foundational structure!
Another benefit of stainless steel is the cost efficiency of the material. While it might cost more to fabricate stainless steel, the service life is significantly longer and the maintainance costs for stainless steel equipment is far less than an average steel. Stainless steel is also fully recyclable and offers a high scrap value on de-commissioning.
With an established history of delivering quality products that are impressively stunning for every blueprint design, we guarantee our stainless steel products will exceed your expectations.
